Male Child and Love

Last week, i had read two short stories that are fascinating and attract me alot.They are written in a book called "little ironies".This book was written by Catherine Lim. Between these two stories-male child and love. If you asked me which story i prefer the most, I will say these two story have their own good plots. But if I have to really choose either one, I think "Male Child" is better cause that story actually makes me feel pity to the wife that had to suffer giving birth to so many female babies and the husband still not satisfact to what had taken place. He kept denieing the fact that he won't get a male child no matter what orelse he expected his wife to give birth like 100 babies in order to get a male child? But what had happened in the later story is that he actually wanted to has a female baby in his wife next birth in a few months. He was so damn ridiculous for what he was trying to do in the endings. Ggrrrr.....i just can't imagine it ,it was .....it was TOO RIDICULOUS!!!!

In the endings, he caught an eye of a beautifuly grown woman that was young. For the sake of owning her, he had an unnessecarry evil thoughts floating in his minds. And it were dumping his wife on a side with her six daughters. And he planned to buy a luxurious house for his "future" wife and had a baby with her ! But it must has one condition, if her wife give birth to a male child, he would stay with her,if its a female AGAIN ...he would left her behind. In the endings,theres a phrase that melted my heart was "if it is a girl child this time ,you may take another wife, and i shall not complain .You may bring her to live in this house ,and I shall be subject to her.I shall explain the matter to my old mother so that she too will accept it."

After reading that ,my eyes actually burst into drops of tears flowing down my cheeks.And the last paragraph excites me the most cause at the end the three characters were waiting the first cry of the baby.I was so nervous because the ending was the most thrilling part but it doesn,t tells the ending.Haiz.....I just can't blame it cause I'm reading short stories.Every stories had a uncomplete endings it just left it there for our futher imaginations.But i really hope the male child story had a happy ending.

This story was so well written, I am quite proud of reading this such emotional story but this question always appear in my mind-"why short stories don't have a satisfactory ending?"
