CNY celebration in Hwa Chong

At the 12th of February,Hwa Chong held a CNY party. On that day,we had to arrive there at the assembly place. Everyone at there were in red or bright colours shirt. When everyone reach there, they greet each other "gong xi fa cai" and shake hands. It was such a memorable sight watching people smiling, greeting .And the most important was it had the New Year atmosphere around. When time reach 7.20 everyone including teachers, raise their feet and sing the national anthem. After that, the principal-Dr. Hon greeted us too and gave a New Year speech to everyone.

After awhile,we went to the Kah Kee Hall and settled down in our respective places. We had many performance like: lion dance, new year songs, hilarious speech and others performances.Firstly, we invited our beloved teachers to come in the hall.We cheered and shouted in our top voice as we invited them. After they sat down. The lion dance began. Starting, a few drum sounds echoing in the air and later more drums sound came in. The sound was so loud that it almost burst my eardrums.Worst was I sat next to the drum!!! I could my feel my heart and body were vibrating. At last the "lion" shifted their body and they wave their head and tail, it was so fascinating .

After that interesting performance was the peeling orange competition. It was held at the stage, the most orange the contestants peel the chances of winning was the most. There were 8 contestant took part in it. 4 students from respective consortiums and 4 teachers. Me, as one of the Ortus family kept cheering at my consortium's contestant. My group was leading, but for a few minutes others had chased after us and leads. But my consortium did not gave up.But still, my consortium lost.

After the competition everyone sang the New Year songs such as, "da di hui chun","he xin nian", and others nice songs. We sang and clapped our hands. It was so fun that every second was precious. At 10 a.m the concert was over. Actually the purpose of letting us off so early was the principal encourage us to visit our primary school teachers and gift them oranges. It was one ofthe traditions in Hwa Chong.

I wish I could attend this party very soon again in the future.
